The Jellyfish Sting
Unfortunately, overnight Rebecca had become very ill so she was unable to enjoy the rest of our beach trip 🙁
While she rested, Sarah, Cindy and I went snorkelling in a variety of places – it was so much fun!! The driver of the boat drove to what looked like pretty much the middle of the ocean and then we jumped into the water and saw so many cool things! I had brought some bread leftover from breakfast to feed the fish and they all swarmed around me and I’m pretty sure one of them bit me. As the boat was so tiny and splashy, I was far too scared to take my phone out and take photos so you’ll just have to imagine what it was like…
At the next spot we went to there were giant clams which honestly would have been cooler if I could wear my glasses underwater as they just looked like blurry shapes – but I could still tell which they were. I also saw a starfish very clearly, but again fairly far away. Unfortunately, once I’d got out of the water my arm started to sting and by the time we reached the next spot, I had painful yellow welts on my arm and red blotches – I had been stung by a jellyfish and not even realised!
The next place we went to was so cool, we climbed up some rocks and down into an underwater cave which was just amazing, genuinely looked like something out of a film. (For the H2O: Just Add Water fans, it was just like Mako Island) We went at the wrong time though – there was a big group of people who were very brave (or stupid) and taking lots of pictures while everyone was splashing around!! I found a photo on Google so you can see just how awesome it looks!

We went to another place and it was probably my favourite, just because we were close to the bay so the water was clearer, but I got stung by jellyfish again!! Only tiny ones though as it just caused a few red marks but still enough to make me want to get out the water for fear of being covered!
When we got back, Rebecca was still not better and the weather was fairly miserable so we had lunch and I set myself up in a hammock with my towel as a blanket and my umbrella and a shield from the rain and wind!

I then also wrapped myself up in another hammock (they’re so comfy) once it had gotten dark.

We then went to the same place for dinner as the night before as it is so close and I had a heroic moment where I spotted 500 of our pesos had been caught between some rocks near the oncoming sea!

I don’t think I would have got back in the water after the first jellyfish sting! Go girl! Enjoy your last few days, learn as much as you can and enjoy. The dog can’t wait to get decent walks again…..
