Is This What It’s Like To Be Famous?
Today I was on outreach and went out into the community.
Before we left the midwives were like ‘get your gloves on there’s a woman about to give birth!’ so I was able to catch another baby! This one was a lot more independent, they just told me what to do rather than guiding my hands except once the baby was born as she had the cord wrapped around her neck.
Our prem baby is nearly ready to go home so the mother, a nurse and I went to check out the house he’ll be staying in to see if it’s suitable. It was down a corridor type thing between two shops that I hadn’t even notice before, but once I knew what to look for I was noticing them all around.

they wanted me to wash my feet (still not really sure why!)

The house we went into was 5 families to one house! All separated into different room. It was fairly surreal as you have heard of people living in placed like this but it’s very different seeing it first hand. Also, the children were so obsessed with my white skin! They were pointing and stroking my arm and comparing it to theirs – at one point I even had a little group of them following me around! I felt like a celebrity! After this we went to the local school for the antenatal clinic – like I did on my first day!
